Dr. Bob Madding
ITC Director
ASNT NDT Level III TIR, EPRI Level III
Bob is a graduate of the
University of Missouri with a BS in Physics, and a Masters and Ph.D. in
Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He began the first
infrared thermography seminar at the University of Wisconsin Extension in
1978. He co-founded the Thermosense Conference in 1978 with two other
colleagues from the UW. In 2000 he founded the Inframation Conference, the
largest annual IR conference for thermographers. He has published numerous
technical papers on infrared thermography applications, as well as
contributing chapters to textbooks such as Applied Thermal Design and the
Encyclopedia of Optical Engineering. Bob has over 25 years experience in
infrared thermography applications and training. |

Bernie Lyon
Course Moderator

Bernie holds a B.Sc. degree in
secondary education, Earth Science major. With fifteen years experience in
the infrared industry, Bernie has been teaching IR Thermography since 1986,
both in-house and at customer sites. Additionally, he has over five years
experience in servicing, calibrating, customizing, and operating infrared
imaging systems. |

Ronald D. Lucier
Course Moderator
ASNT NDT Level III TIR
Ron earned his B.Sc degree in
Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has been
actively teaching and consulting in infrared thermography since 1984. He
began the infrared predictive maintenance program at Yankee Atomic Electric
in 1984. In total he has over 22 years of thermography applications and
teaching experience, spanning all industries from electric power generation
to paper mills. |

Gary L. Orlove, P.E.
ASNT NDT/PdM Level III, TIR
Gary holds degrees in Energy Engineering and Zoology from the University
of Wisconsin and has been using Infrared Thermography since 1975. During
that time he has accumulated experience in field diagnostics as a consultant
to industry, and has been worked for three major manufacturers of infrared
imaging equipment. He has published several papers on the technology and its
applications and is editor and publisher of ITC’s highly acclaimed monthly
newsletter for thermographers. In 2000 he co-founded the InfraMation
Conference, the largest annual IR conference for thermographers. Gary is
active on ASNT, ISO, and ASTM Infrared Thermography Committees and holds a
professional engineer’s license. |

Bob Rogers
Senior Thermography Instructor
ASNT NDT Level III TIR
Bob conducts training in North, Central and South America for the
infrared training center. He has performed over 2100 infrared surveys on
electrical switchgear throughout the US Northeast and taught Electronic and
Electrical Engineering at Wentworth and Digital Equipment Corporation. Bob
has conducted infrared surveys in electrical substations, wastewater
treatment plants, electric power plants, steam plants, paper mills, hotels
and telephone central office buildings. He has an MBA from Babson College in
Marketing and Quantitative Methods and a BS in Electronic Engineering from
Wentworth Institute of Technology. He holds an FCC First Class General
Radiotelephone Operator’s License with a Radar endorsement. He is member of
IEEE, ASNT and is an avid ham radio operator in his spare time. |

Jay Bowen
Course Moderator– ITC Level III
Jay has been involved in the
electrical trades since 1977 and has an Associates Degree in Electronics
Technology. Jay holds a Wisconsin Masters certificate, Wisconsin Commercial
Electrical Inspector Certification, and a State designer’s
license in electrical systems. He has been using infrared thermography as a
condition monitoring tool since the mid-90s . He recently led Encompass
Services Corp. CM Programs, teaching and expanding service groups’ roles by
offering services including thermography inspections across the U.S. Jay
developed and taught classes in thermography, motor control, power quality,
instrumentation, and PLC. |

Paul Frisk, P. Eng
Instructor - ITC Level III
Paul is responsible for managing ITC Canada. Paul is a Professional
Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science from the University of
Toronto, Canada. Paul has been in the INFRARED business since 1979 and with
FLIR Systems since 1985 and holds an ITC Level III certification.
Paul has extensive experience in Automation (Process Monitoring and Control)
processes. His duties ranged from Software System Design, Manufacturing and
System Installation as well as sales. Paul’s second “calling” is as an ITC
Instructor and provides enthusiastic training sessions that are well
received by his students |

Rusty Bushee
Instructor – ITC Level II
Rusty is our newest instructor and has 6 years of infrared thermography
experience in the paper industry where he also has 23 years working with
mechanical and electrical systems. He is licensed in South Carolina to
perform HVAC installation and repairs which he has been doing for over 10
years as well. With his extensive background in industrial systems, Rusty
brings practical knowledge and know-how to his training sessions. Rusty
enjoys golfing and bass fishing. |

Tom Coffey
Instructor – ITC Level IITom holds a BS in Zoology with Chemistry
and Literature minors from the University of Tennessee. He has extensive
experience on the imaging side of Infrared in airborne law enforcement and
firefighting applications. He managed development of a handheld infrared
imager for the fire service in conjunction with FLIR Systems, Inc while
working with a major fire service manufacturing company. Tom also brings
industrial roofing and building envelope knowledge to ITC from his 20 years
of experience as a project manager for major industrial construction
companies. |

Joe DeMonte
Contract Thermography Instructor
ASNT PdM Level III TIR, Technical Associates Vibration Level II
Joe has an Associates Degree in
Applied Science and Technology and a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from
Thomas Edison State College. He was instrumental in starting the predictive
maintenance program at Beaver Valley Power Station. He was the lead
thermographer in developing all procedures and analyzing all thermal scans.
Joe was a certified instructor in the United States Navy and he brings with
him knowledge of utility applications of thermography and a strong
foundation in heat transfer, boiler operation and all those technical things
that one must know to keep our navy afloat. |

Jason Gagnon
Technical Support Manager
Jason holds an Associates Degree
in Electronic Engineering and a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology
from the University of Massachusetts. He has eight years experience
servicing, repairing and supporting Inframetrics and FLIR products.
Currently he is responsible for supporting FLIR's commercial software
products and is teaching the software training courses. |

Jim Haney
Image Processing Applications Support Technician
Jim is currently pursuing a
degree in Information Systems at the University of Massachusetts. He has
eleven years experience in production as a Technician: prototyping, testing,
building and supporting Inframetrics and FLIR products. Currently he is
responsible for supporting FLIR's commercial software products. |

Karen Tedford-Tierney
ITC Manager
Karen joins ITC with over 10 years experience in running a training
center for a software company. In addition to her experience, her enthusiasm
for quality training at a fair price and desire for achieving operational
efficiency are qualities that make her a great fit for this job and a
valuable asset for ITC and our students. |

Training and Certification Administrator
Laurie is responsible for
producing and maintaining all levels of certification for our students. She
also plays a vital role in coordinating the in-house, regional, and customer
site training classes. Laurie’s many years of administrative experience has
proven to be a great asset to the ITC. |
