FLIR Leak dtection of Gas Pipelines.
spot
10/7/2005
Have been asked to find leaks from natural gas pipelines from a helicopter.
The pipelines are buried 1m under the ground.
I have a Agema THV1000 radiometric FLIR.
Has anyone used FLIR for this application.
Thanks. G

Your IR camera is not optimal for this type of work. Take a look at the new FLIR GasFindIR infrared camera at

Has this camera been used from a helicopter to detect gas leaks?
Is the mid wave better than long wave for gas leak detection?
Am interested in obtaining further details.
Thanks. G

Yes, this camera has been used from a helicopter. The GasFindIR is a midwave camera employing a specially designed cold filter to that detects IR radiation in a band where many organic gases absorb.
