optical zoom for thermocamera alessandro_cascone 11/28/2007
I never found a thermocamera with an optical zoom, are there some technical problems for this ?

Thanks

is for the optical the mareial of the lenses have a trasmisivity and if you have variation in the distance of the lens may have a varation

At what do you make reference with material lenses trasmissivity ?

Excuse me, but I'm a beginner...

I believe that there are zoom lenses available from the independent lens manufacturers. However, they pose problems for radiometric cameras in that the various levels of zoom will have different temperature calibrations.

Two questions:

1) Is it possible to calibrate some levels of zoom with different temperatures ?

2) Is it also possible to deduce the others levels of zoom (supposing to have a continuum zoom) with different temperature calibration through softwares ?

I can't speak to actually calibrating the camera, but think it gets, at best, messy. However, you have the possibility of "calibrating" the image by including known T targets in the image and then being able to relate the image results to the known T's. You may have to worry about the linearity of the camera's response.
