General Summary Certified Predictive Maintenance Technician: This position is responsible for predictive maintenance inspections and testing of University buildings and equipment, repair, troubleshooting and minor installation of all types of electrical systems, devices and equipment. In addition, performs duties throughout University buildings, property and facilities, in accordance with University standards and procedures.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; completion of job-related associate's degree (AA) preferred; Electrical Preventive Maintenance (EPM) certification and/or certification in infrared thermography, vibration/motor analysis or ultrasonics required; experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman electrician required; a minimum of five years actual work in the trade, including apprentice or vocational training, required; advanced job-related training programs required; working knowledge of Chicago electrical code requirements required; demonstrated capability to use computers in the work setting required; ability to read and interpret instructions and documents required; ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing required; excellent customer service skills required; ability to perform basic mathematical functions relevant to the position and have strong problem-solving skills required; demonstrated mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity required; ability to lift, kneel, climb stairs, ladders, work at heights, work in tight spaces and withstand hot and cold temperatures required; a current valid driver's license is required; position requires periods of overtime; knowledge of NFPA code requirements preferred.
