Metal Roofing defects RFran113 1/7/2009

Can defects in an exisitng Metal Panel roofing system be detected such as through opened seamed joints, exposed metal fasteners, end enclosures, ridge vent or other penetrations or would false readings take place due to the nature of the beast?
