Steam trap inspections 376mmc 7/18/2009
Does anyone have ideas or suggestions concerning performing infrared steam trap inspections? I have been asked to perform IR inspections on numerous steam traps, but my expertise is electrical. Thanks in advance for your help.

A properly operating steam trap will show at least a 10c difference between inlet and outlet when it is not operating. Steam at 50 psi is 296f and condensate at the other side is atmospheric below 212f. You can use a regular thermal gun just as well.
