I joined Chamber of Commence been to function's over the past several months and not getting anywhere! Done some advertizing, web site, brochures, biz cards still nothing. Own all of my equipment will be at the Convention in Vegas in October. Finding it hard to education the public and city on the advantages of thermal imaging. Can anyone out there give me some pointers, ideas - what I'm I doing wrong/or not doing at all! Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the Real world!!.. when there wasnt economic crisis was hard to find some possible customers. i suggest make some demos (some experienced thermographers are not agree with this) but this is the hard way on How to "educate" to people. To see is to believe like somebody said in the past.

There is help out there. See www.unitedinfrared.com The business concerns you reference about are discussed in the training modules and how to tackle them: www.energyscanir.com, www.equineir.com and many more. The problems you are having is very common in the industry hence why United Infrared was formed. Will be presenting a paper titled "Diversif IR" during conference that you might like to hear as well as a paper titled "Mammals communicate, Infrared listens". The applications of infrared go well beyond what you might have focused and by diverisfying your business, you open up your opportunity. We will be at inframation so make sure to stop by.

Hey startup. You didn't mention what your background was but I suspect it has to do with housing or selling of some sort. I am a real estate agent in Los Angeles and I am getting into this home inspection stuff in a limited way. I do not want to become a full time home inspector but I do want to solve some problems. I have owned several homes and problems come with home ownership. I've had leaking roofs, leaking AC condensation lines, no insulated walls, 1/2 insulated walls, stopped up waste lines, minor electrical problems and drafty rooms. I'm sure you have experience much the same.

What I am doing is reading everything on the web that I can find on IR imagining. This website is extremely valuable because of the problem images posted and the resulting suggestions and solutions offered by different IR specialists with a variety of experiences. I have downloaded some IR photos that illustrate what I have experienced. Then I got the bright idea of documenting my own house problems and emailing them to friends, business associates and past customers. I visited my computer tech today and offered to spot check several of his walls for missing insulation. Then I showed him my IR images from my home where insulation was missing. I think our major task in the beginning is to educate our friends and associates on where and how IR imaging can be a fast valuable instrument in solving problems that were not solved using other techniques and contractors. Start small with the problems that you find easy to identify and expand from there.

When I am ready I may consider doing a short slide presentation to my local Board of Realtors which shows examples of problems easily solved with IR imaging. I've created a 1 page handout with 8 examples of problems easily identified with IR imaging. I carry the camera around with me and I'm willing to take a few minutes to show them the saved images of the missing insulation at my house. It is really impressive. My IR camera
is quite small and easily carried around. I know many IR cameras are much bigger and more difficult to carry around everywhere you go.

You can also target single women who own homes. They find it especially difficult to cope with home maintenance problems. My one page handout with color IR images is very impressive and easy to understand.

Let me know if any of these ideas work for you and I will try to follow up with what has worked for me.
