Autoclaves PJ Cloete 3/28/2012

Does anyone have information/experience with autoclaves?

I have done a few inspections, found areas of concern, and documented them.

I would like to compare what I am doing with regards to this with persons that have experience in the field.

It is important that those replying to this post be experienced in autoclave inspections.

Thanks in advance.

What type of autoclave are we speaking of? Sterilization or dry kiln pressure vessel type?
I have had some experence in the small sterilization units.

I am working on precious metal separation units.

The principle remains the same as other claves.

Liquid in the lower half, vapour in the upper section, painted steel shell with lead, halar and brick lining.

Internal temperatures up to around 190 deg C.

I am looking for experiences relating to scanning the shell, which is round, obviously, and also painted with a gloss paint.

I have found indications of defects in the linings, and have compensated for reflections, e value, local environmental conditions etc etc.

I am trying to establish norms for the inspection type, and also what defects have been found on similar equipment. All of this is geared toward timeous fault finding and correction without re-inventing the wheel.
