Is there any combination of products where I could set up the camera to be activated by motion and start recording to a hard drive, like the RCA lyra?

FLIR has the A and S series cameras that have built in alarm functions. With the A series you could trigger the Researcher software to record, or using some of the other I/O options, use the camera to trigger a different device.
