Back ground temperature help needed....... |

We are using AGEMA-550 for measuring the temperature of tube skin in refinery heater tubes, where it is needed to set the bacground temperature. But AGEMA don't have a parameter like back ground temperature setting. We are setting it as ambient temperature. Whether we are doing right or wrong?
If wrong then what is the solution?

In the AGEMA 550, the "ambient" temperature setting is equivalent to the "background" temperature setting in some other cameras.
Here is a simple definition:
Background temperature: To avoid confusion we now call this "Reflected Apparent Temperature" or RAT. This is the apparent temperature of the surroundings that radiate to and reflect from your target into your IR camera. It is most commonly measured by placing aluminum foil in line with your target and making an apparent temperature measurement (emissivity = 1) of what the foil reflects.
