Help, Thinking of buying a thermal imaging camera , the dectector display is 16x16 pixels .Will this be good for electrical inspections ?

The short answer is no. You'ld have to get so close to the hot spot to get an accurate temperature you wouldn't see enough in the image to see what it is. For a more complete response I would have to see the specs. on the camera. What make is it and do they have a website?

We started out with one of these, it all depends on what you want to use it for. It will show up localised hot spots in electrical switchgear etc, but not with enough clarity to identify which individual wire. If money is tight by a Infracam (Flir) or an E 45 (this is what I did). the Infracam is not that much more (when you have brought a PDA to go on the 16x16) and is 100 times better.
